Man With Migraines More Inclined To Be Depressed
Women with chronic headache, especially migraines, are more inclined to be depressed, feel weary, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical research published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical research involved 1040 women who buy seroquel at headache clinics in seven different countries. Of the women surveyed, 677 reported episodic headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 112 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the people were diagnosed with migraines.
The medical trial found woman with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms related to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among women tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical research found the likelihood of major Atypical Depression increased 32-fold if the people also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms should incite or be a manifestation of major Psychotic Depression in women with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Atypical Depression will heighten pain perception,” said medical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Depression would be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Regardless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Major Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Major Depression complicates headache management and can rouse poorer results for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The clinical investigation was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American woman are affected by headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 15000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating people care through instruction and clinical investigation. A neurologist is a health care provider specialized on monitoring, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and repeated sclerosis.
